'Kaizer Chiefs are the best team in Africa' - George Maluleka responds to reports linking him to Sundowns

Midfielder George Maluleka has made it clear that he aims to honour his contract with Kaizer Chiefs despite reports that he's a wanted man.

This comes after the midfield maestro was linked with a possible move to Mamelodi Sundowns, especially with his contract up for renewal at the end of next season.

"There will always be speculation about players moving, but I am still contracted to Kaizer Chiefs until 2020 and I’m going to honour my contract until then," Maluleka said on EWN.

Maluleka, who joined Chiefs from SuperSport United midway through the 2013/14 season, is now one of the senior players at the Naturena-based side.

"If anything does come through, I’ll see what happens but for now, I am a Kaizer Chiefs player," he continued.

"For me, Kaizer Chiefs is the best club in Africa in terms of the management and everything else and not just the soccer out on the pitch," he added.

The 30-year-old stated that he is happy at Amakhosi with Sundowns reportedly preparing a move for his services ahead of the July-August 2019 transfer window.

"We have the quality and to move now it would be a matter of me starting from scratch again. For some, it might be a good thing, but for me, I am still happy at Kaizer Chiefs," he concluded.

Maluleka, who was part of the Chiefs team that won the 2014/15 PSL title, has made 13 appearances in all competitions for the Soweto giants this season.

The 13 appearances came soon after his return from a long-term injury towards the end of 2018.
