ISL 2018-19: Cesar Ferrando - Happy with the mental strength of my team

A late goal from Sergio Cidoncha sealed a point for Jamshedpur FC against Bengaluru FC on Sunday in an exciting Indian Super League (ISL) clash at the Kanteerava Stadium.

The visitors came back from behind twice to clinch a point. They were forced to score two goals in the final 10 minutes to salvage a draw at a venue where they had won last year.

Speaking on his side’s performance, Jamshedpur FC coach Cesar Ferrando said, “We had a big challenge of playing against Bengaluru FC. They are a big team. In the first half, we tried to control the game. So we had to take more risks. Overall, I think the scoreline is good for us. I am very happy with the mental strength of my team.

“I am happy with the result. We could have scored more goals but this is football. These things happen in football.”

The Spaniard felt that star signing Tim Cahill needed more game time under his belt while praising Gaurav Mukhi who scored their first goal.

“This was the first match for (Tim) Cahill. He needs to play. We need to have more pace in our game. We have Gaurav (Mukhi) who is a young player. We need this kind of players.”

Gaurav was elated to score for his hometown club on debut. He said, “I am very happy to score for Jamshedpur FC. I am happy that I contributed to the team’s performance which is important.

The young striker went on to credit Tim Cahill for guiding him and helping him improve.

“Tim (Cahill) helps me a lot during our training sessions," he revealed.
