It has been 55 years since England won a major trophy and after being drawn in a relatively kind group, Euro 2020 could be the prime opportunity for them to break that duck.
A semi-final run at the World Cup three years ago which saw Harry Kane win the Golden Boot has whet the appetite of a nation ahead of a summer high in expectation.
How did England qualify for Euro 2020?
Qualification for Euro 2020 was largely plain sailing for England, with Gareth Southgate's men picking up 21 points from a possible 24 - scoring at least four goals in all seven of their wins.
However, their campaign was marred by incidents of racist abuse from the crowd in the 6-0 win in Bulgaria which almost caused the game to be abandoned.
The Three Lions also suffered a rare defeat at this stage when they went down 2-1 in the Czech Republic, their first qualifying loss in a decade, but it mattered nought in the end.
England's European Championship history
Past European Championships have largely been a constant source of disappointment for England, who have suffered four group stage exits and never reached a final.
Indeed, their best result is two semi-final appearances but the most recent of those famously came in 1996 when current manager Gareth Southgate missed the crucial penalty to send Germany into the final.
Euro 2016 provided perhaps one of the greatest upsets of all time, though, as the Three Lions went down 2-1 to minnows Iceland in the last 16 to end a thoroughly disappointing tournament.
