Whilst it can hardly be called the glamour tie of the EFL Cup third round, Burnley’s trip to Burton Albion still provides plenty of opportunities for bettors.
The Clarets have struggled this season but were able to claim a 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday, their first victory since April and breaking a run of 10 winless Premier League matches.
Tuesday’s trip to Staffordshire should also see goals, although perhaps not quite as many, and opposing a late goal at 5/6 (1.83) looks tremendous value.
Getty Imagesbet365 offer that price on no goal being scored after 73:59 and there is little to suggest either team will have much joy that late on.
Of the seven times Burnley have found the net this season, only two of those have come after the 74th minute and they both came against Bournemouth. Similarly, they have shipped just one goal in the final 16 minutes of a game.
Burton, meanwhile, have netted just 10 times in eight League One games and the latest goal they have scored came in the 71st minute back on the opening weekend.
Again, just two of the 11 goals Albion have conceded came in the 74th minute or later.
Getty ImagesWhilst it seems likely that the goals will come early in the match, there is also potential for both teams to net in those first 74 minutes at tempting odds of 4/5 (1.80).
Burton have scored in seven of their eight matches this season and kept just two clean sheets, whilst the Clarets have conceded 10 goals so far but will be buoyed by their big weekend win.
For a slightly longer bet, the hosts’ EFL Cup record is surprisingly good with just one loss in their last five, so it could be worth backing them to qualify at 6/4 (2.50) - especially since Burnley have lost five of their last six in his tournament.
