Chelsea legend Drogba hails Mohamed Salah after breaking his Premier League record

Didier Drogba has congratulated Liverpoool forward Mohamed Salah for eclipsing his record as the highest goalscoring African in a single English Premier League season.

The Egypt international surpassed Drogba's record of 29 goals achieved in a treble-winning 2009-10 campaign for Chelsea after registering his 30th league goal against AFC Bournemouth last Saturday.

In his debut campaign at Anfield, the fleet-footed attacker has notched 40 goals in 45 games across all competitions.

"It was just a matter of days before this guy put my goal record as number one African top scorer in the Premier League to bed," Drogba wrote on Instagram.

"So proud of you little brother Mohamed Salah, continue to put our continent as high as you can! Much love and blessings, like I said before the best is yet to come."
