Chelsea EPL Best Prop Bets & Betting Tips

Chelsea will enter the 2022-23 Premier League season with a new front office, new ownership, and several new faces on the roster.

The London club is just one season removed from a Champions League title but finds itself on the heels of a financial scandal involving former owner Roman Abramovich that will forever change the direction of the Blues with Todd Boehly now in control.

Thomas Tuchel is tasked with turning Chelsea around following a disappointing season that ended with a fourth place EPL finish, 19 points behind Manchester City. He will do so without the services of failed Inter Milan transfer Romelu Lukaku, who fell well below expectations after signing a club-record £97.5m deal.

The Belgian striker was returned to Inter on loan at the beginning of the current transfer window, and Chelsea turned their attention to a roster rebuild headlined by Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) and Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli).

Will Chelsea’s efforts to quickly jump back into the Premier League championship picture be a success? Let’s look at how the betting lines view the situation and which prop bets are worth your attention this season.

Chelsea Betting Lines

Win Premier League (+1400)

Finish Top 4 in Premier League (-150)

Finish Top 6 in Premier League (-2000)

Premier League League Winner without Manchester City (+650)

Kai Havertz: Top Goalscorer in EPL (+3300)

Raheem Sterling: Top Goalscorer in EPL (+3300)

(Odds are updated as of July 20 on BetMGM Sportsbook.)

Chelsea is currently listed as the fourth favorite to win the Premier League at (+1400), behind Manchester City (-160), Liverpool (+275), and Tottenham (+1200).

This quartet of clubs is considered the heavy favorites to finish as the Top 4 in the table, with Chelsea coming in at (-150) compared to Manchester United (+150) and Arsenal (+150).

There is a clear separation between the betting lines that put Chelsea in a small second tier of Premier League clubs along with Tottenham, behind Man City and Liverpool.

This gap will limit the scope of profitable betting to an outright win of the EPL (+1400), a Top 4 finish (-150), or a “Winner without Manchester City” wager (+650) with a Top 6 finish currently listed at an undesirable (-2000).

If you are looking for individual player props for Chelsea, your best bet is to look towards the Golden Boot with longshot options like Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz. However, this may not be the wisest of choices considering the competition.

Chelsea EPL Outlook 2022-2023

Chelsea is in a transitional season, whether the club wants to admit that or not. However, the presence of Boehly appears to have streamlined this process, with the team casting a wide net in the transfer market and being aggressive.

The addition of Koulibaly will be a massive boost to the Blues’ defense following the loss of Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid) and Andreas Christensen (Barcelona). The Senegal international will join Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah to form a stellar back line that will arguably be one of the best in the Premier League.

Versatile right-back Reece James should be in for another productive season, given the influx of talent surrounding him. He is widely expected to be offered a contract extension to stay with the London club long-term.

One weakness for Chelsea was their consistency on offense. Among players on the current roster entering the transfer window, only Mason Mount had a season with 10-plus goals.

Sterling will be a massive boost in this area, having scored at least 10 goals in the previous five Premier League seasons. However, the Blues still need another premium attacker if they are going to make a serious run at the championship.

Havertz is currently in line to start as the number nine once again for Chelsea, but the 23-year-old has struggled at times against physical defenders, and it remains to be seen if striker is his best position.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Conor Gallagher is set to join Chelsea this season after spending stretches on loan at Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion, and Crystal Palace. The attacking midfielder could be an exciting addition to the club after scoring as many Premier League goals (eight) as Havertz last season.

Another issue for Tuchel is the current roster construction in terms of overlap. In addition to Sterling, Havertz, Mount, Gallagher, Hakim Ziyech, and Callum Hudson-Odoi, the club still has Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, and Armando Broja without a clear role on the offense.

It remains to be seen whether or not each player will start the season with the Blues or be sent away on loan or transfer.

The bottom line is that Chelsea is a work in progress, but they are headed in the right direction with the decisions made so far this summer. A run at the Premier League title may be a bit premature this season, but the Stamford Bridge club has the talent to make some noise near the top of the table once again.

Chelsea Best Futures & Prop Bets

Top 4 Finish in Premier League (-150)

Chelsea has made substantial additions to the club during the transfer window and is an excellent bet for a spot near the top of the table.

Goalkeeper Édouard Mendy and a defensive back line of Silva and Koulibaly will be difficult for opposing teams to score against this season. They should safeguard Chelsea against leaving many matches without a result while taking pressure off their attack.

Win Premier League (+1400)

If you want to make the most out of Chelsea’s available bettings odds, a wager on a Premier League championship certainly has the largest payout potential.

During a transitional phase, this goal may be asking a lot. But given the talent on the roster — and the constant rumors for additional transfers — it is impossible to rule out a run at the trophy.

At (+1400), you could do worse than placing one unit on the Blues to make a run this season.

Premier League Winner without Manchester City (+650)

This wager is your best bet for a value play. Eliminating Manchester City from the equation allows Chelsea to finish second in the table and still pay out as a winner.

The proposition of outperforming Liverpool and Tottenham is still challenging, but at (+650) odds, this bet is a reasonable risk to take on the Blues.
