Championship Betting: Aston Villa and Leeds heavy favourites to meet at Wembley

The Championship semi-final second legs take place in midweek but the bookies believe that Saturday’s clashes may have already settled the outcome.

Aston Villa head to West Brom on Tuesday night with a 2-1 lead over their West Midlands rivals, having come back from a goal down in the first leg at Villa Park.

Dean Smith’s men are just 3/10 (1.30) with 888Sport to get the result they need to qualify for the play-off final at Wembley on May 27, and 29/20 (2.45) to win at the Hawthorns for the first time since 2008.

Although trailing by just one goal and playing at home, 888Sport make West Brom 23/10 (3.30) to go through. Indeed, 16 of the last 18 sides to win the first leg of a Championship play-off semi-final have gone on to progress through to the final.

The Baggies are in an indifferent run of form with three wins and four losses in their last eight but it is worth noting they are unbeaten in five home matches, and so the 7/4 (2.75) price on them claiming victory could prove to be good value.

The other clash sees Leeds United welcome Derby to Elland Road on Wednesday, with the Whites carrying a slender 1-0 lead after a hard-fought victory at Pride Park on Saturday evening.

888Sport make Marcelo Bielsa’s men just 1/10 (1.10) to reach the play-off final, whilst a home win is priced at just 7/10 (1.70).

Leeds have already beaten Derby three times this season and will be in good spirits as just one of the previous 17 teams to lose the first leg of a second-tier play-off semi-final at home have progressed to the final.

Frank Lampard’s outfit are a 5/1 (6.0) shot to go through or 19/5 (4.80) to win at Elland Road for the second time in three visits, although the Rams did win just seven away games during the regular season.
