Betting Special: Sunday of shocks sees Genoa stun a Juventus side missing Cristiano Ronaldo

There were several noteworthy upsets across Europe's top leagues over the weekend.

One of the most surprising came as Juventus lost their first Serie A game of the season away at Genoa. It was a memorable week for the Old Lady, who overturned a 2-0 Champions League deficit to book their spot in the quarter-finals, but it ended on sour note.

Even without star man Cristiano Ronaldo, Juve were rated as 3/5 (1.60) shots to win for the 25th time in 28 league games. Cesare Prandelli's substitutes proved decisive though, with Goran Pandev and former Juventus man Stefano Sturaro coming off the bench to fire the hosts to victory. William Hill made Genoa an 11/2 (6.50) shot before kick-off.

Correct score backers were able to get odds of around 28/1 (29.0) with William Hill on a 2-0 home win. The match was the first time Max Allegri's side had failed to score in 29 Serie A encounters although it's very unlikely to impact their hopes of retaining the Scudetto. The reigning champions boast a 15-point advantage over nearest challengers Napoli.

There was another surprising result in Sunday's early kick-offs too as Real Valladolid ended a four-match losing streak in La Liga by beating Eibar in dramatic fashion.

The match seemed to be going to form as Eibar (6/10) led 1-0 going into injury time. However, VAR awarded Valladolid a 91st minute penalty which Daniele Verde converted. The drama didn't stop there though. As the hosts pushed forward for a winning goal, Sergi Guardiola seized upon a defensive error by Arbilla to score his first ever La Liga goal.

Eibar hadn't lost at home since September in La Liga while Valladolid had yet to win a game on the road in the Spanish top-flight since the turn of the year, so it was of little to surprise to see the visitors rated as 5/1 (6.0) underdogs on Sunday morning.

The FA Cup meant there was a curtailed Premier League coupon and the matches largely went to form with the exception of Everton (15/4) who recorded a first win against a "Big Six" team this season by beating Chelsea at Goodison Park. Meanwhile, 27/10 (3.70) shots Wolves booked their place at Wembley with a 2-1 win over Manchester United.

The same price was available on Sheffield United coming out on top against Leeds United in a crucial Championship meeting at Elland Road. The Blades leapfrogged Marcelo Bielsa's side into the second automatic promotion place and are now 3/1 (4.0) to win the division which is led by Norwich (4/7).

Leeds have drifted to 9/2 (5.50) for the title but are still 1/2 (1.50) shots to be promoted back to the Premier League this term.

Elsewhere, Monaco (16/5) beat second place Lille in Ligue 1 on Friday while SPAL (11/4) eased their relegation worries in Serie A courtesy of a much-needed home win over Roma.
