On X, the German record champions wrote that the coach was "under medical care". The statement continued: "Vincent Kompany had to receive medical treatment on Friday after collapsing during a training session of Bayern Munich's amateur team. The first-team coach had been watching the second team train. Kompany is undergoing thorough examinations in hospital and will remain under medical care. His coaching staff will oversee training and matches until further notice."
Bayern Munich's board member for sport, Max Eberl, said: "Vincent Kompany's health is our highest priority. We at Bayern Munich will do everything we can to help him recover quickly." Kompany would receive "all the medical care and support he needs, and all the time he needs. His coaching staff, in whom we have complete confidence, will take over his duties. Everyone at Bayern Munich wishes Vinnie a speedy recovery."
Earlier that afternoon, Bild and Sky reported that Kompany had been taken to a Munich hospital accompanied by an emergency doctor. A helicopter also landed at Bayern Munich's training ground on Säbener Straße, but was not needed.
Kompany had been struggling with a viral infection in recent days. He missed the final training session and the press conference before the Champions League match against Arsenal (2-2).

Assistant coach Aaron Danks handled that press conference in Kompany's absence. Speaking about his boss on Tuesday, he said: "It is very important that he rests." Kompany had, among other things, "felt pain in his legs".
For the match itself, however, the Belgian was back on the bench at the Allianz Arena. Kompany said of his illness: "As a coach, you always want to do everything and be involved in everything. I caught a pretty nasty virus last week, then of course I didn't listen to my body, and eventually my body said: Now stop!"

Bayern Munich and their opponents agreed to postpone the match, due to take place at the stadium on Grünwalder Straße at 14:00 on Saturday, after consulting the Bavarian Football Association. The club gave no reason, although according to Bild, Kompany's collapse prompted the decision. A majority of those at the training session were reportedly "in shock" afterwards.
According to tz and Münchner Merkur, Kompany had already been to hospital once last week, but the results there were negative.
