Barcelona are to hold back plans to make changes to their club badge following opposition from club members.
In September, La Liga's champions announced a proposed update to the club crest, which removed the letters ‘FCB’ while adding more subtle changes to the emblem’s colours.
The new badge was set to come into being from next season.
While the updated crest has always been subject to member approval, the ensuing anger has been so fierce that club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has announced the plans have been shelved, calling for a period of ‘internal reflection’ over the proposals.
Supporters’ main concern was the removal of the ‘FCB’ acronym, which members argued is a symbol of the club’s Catalan origin.
The letters were altered to ‘CFB’ when former Spanish general Francisco Franco came to power in Spain with the club forced to use the Spanish version of their name.
Bartomeu has made it clear that the lettering will appear in any future update to the badge.
Barcelona last updated their crest in 2002, and it has undergone several changes during their 119-year history.
