Armed robbery charges dropped against Orlando Pirates winger Morrison

Police have confirmed that the armed robbery case against Orlando Pirates midfielder Bernard Morrison, 23, has been withdrawn.

This was revealed by Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo when speaking to The Citizen on Friday.

“We received a letter from the court stating that the complainant has withdrawn his case," Masondo told the publication.

"We have since sent back the docket to court for the withdrawal,” the police officer continued.

“It is alleged that a woman called a soccer agent on behalf of Morrison and when the agent arrived at an estate he found him (Morrison) with three gentlemen," he said.

“The complainant (soccer agent) alleged that Morris and these guys were carrying guns and they demanded that he handed over his car keys and they also allegedly took an undisclosed amount of money from him," Masondo added.

“The complainant also alleged that there was an amount of R12 000 from his car. To be honest the case was a bit sketchy, hence we decided to call it an armed robbery.

"But like I said, the complainant has since withdrawn it, so we’re waiting for the docket to come back from court to finalise the withdrawal,” he concluded.
