Al Wahda's 19-year-old striker Mohammad Al Hammadi stars in 5-1 demolition of Sharjah

Mohammad Al Hammadi was the star of the show as Al Wahda completed a 5-1 rout of Sharjah at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

The 19-year-old bagged a brace in a comfortable victory for the hosts in round 19 of the Arabian Gulf League.

Al Wahda's high pressing tactics came to fruition just nine minutes into the game when Sultan Al Ghafri won the ball and played in Sebastian Tagliabue inside the area who finished emphatically into the top corner to give his side the lead.

Venezuelan striker Gelmin Rivas however responded for Sharjah in the 23rd minute when he forced his way down the right flank before delivering an inch perfect cross for Chikashi Masuda who side-footed his effort past the goalkeeper to draw the visiting team level.

Al Hammadi joined the party late in the first half. A free-kick was launched into the area where Salem Sultan met it at the far post and headed it across the face of the goal for Al Hammadi to tap home.

Javier Aguirre's men then put their foot on the pedal in the second half, opening a two-goal cushion when their teenage forward struck again within two minutes of the restart. Al Hammadi dispatched a cross from Rim Chang-woo for Al Wahda's third.

Balazs Dzsuzsak then added to the scoreline seven minutes later with a curling a free-kick that crashed in off the bar. Sultan Al Ghafri capped off a convincing win for the hosts with a low left-footed drive 13 minutes from time.

The win saw Al Wahda's move on to 28 points for the season as they leapfrogged Al Dhafra and Al Nasr to climb up to fifth place.  Sharjah remain just five points above the relegation zone with 17 points.
