-   Senegal are making their 14th appearance at the African Cup of Nations - a record for a team that has never won the trophy; the closest Senegal came to winning the AFCON was in 2002.

-   This is Algeria’s 17th participation in the African Cup of Nations; their solitary title dates back to 1990, it was on home soil. They haven’t reached the final since then.

-   Algeria have won their two previous AFCON fixtures against Senegal (2-1 in the 1990 semi-final, 2-0 in the 2015 group stages).

-   Algeria come into this game having won their last three matches played against Senegal; the Greens keeping clean sheets in last two meetings.

-   Yacine Brahimi was the difference when these sides last met; his 81st minute strike helping Algeria seal a 1-0 win on that occasion.

-   Senegal have already booked their place in the next round whilst Algeria have to win this match to have any chance of progressing.

-   Senegal have only lost once in their last five matches in the African Cup of Nations (W3 D1); that loss did come against Algeria however (2015).

-   Algeria have only been able to win two of their last 11 AFCON fixtures (D2 L7).

-   If Senegal win this match, it’ll be the first time in their history that they will have won all of their group stage matches in the AFCON.

-   Riyad Mahrez has been directly involved in four of the last six AFCON goals recorded by Algeria (three scored and one assist).
