Abdullahi Biffo wants consistency from Katsina United after home win against Lobi Stars

Katsina United head coach, Abdullahi Biffo has charged his players to replicate the outstanding performance they had against Lobi Stars in the rest of the matches they have in the top flight this season especially when they face Enugu Rangers on Wednesday in a rescheduled league tie.

The Changi Boys played one of their season’s best games in their 2-0 home win over the Pride of Benue with Tasiu Lawal and Sheriff Bashir scoring both goals in the 19th and 85th minutes.

Biffo while fielding questions from journalists shortly after the game said that he knew that his players can step up their game against any opposition and that he was not surprised that his wards scored two goals against the league reigning champions; adding that they could have even scored more had they taken other chances they had during the game.

“I don’t have any doubt in my mind regarding the ability of my boys if only they are willing to play nobody can stop them,” Biffo told the media. “Today (Sunday) was one of their good days and they could have even scored more goals if not for the chances they missed. Lobi Stars are a good side and because of the draw we got against them in Makurdi, I knew that they would like to come here and try to grab at least a point.

“We knew what we needed out of the game after we drew our last home match, we couldn’t afford to let another point slip at home. I know Lobi Stars very well and I never doubted them at all.”

Ahead of Wednesday’s rescheduled league tie against Enugu Rangers at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, Biffo noted that his players must display the same hunger they showed against Lobi Stars to pick the three points and usurp the Flying Antelopes to the third position in the Nigeria Professional Football League Group A table where they currently occupy the fourth spot with 17 points from 12 games as against Rangers who are third only on superior goals difference as they also on 17 points from eight games.

“Every match is crucial and considering the way the match is played now it is to your disadvantage to underrate any team. Rangers won the Federation Cup last year and they paraded one of the best legs in the league,” Biffo continued.

“They even earned a draw in Minna against Niger Tornadoes. They have played two straight away games and they were able to get valuable points but Katsina is going to be another experience for them because we need the point more than they do.”
