Bournemouth, Chelsea and the Vancouver Whitecaps were faced in 2024, with Harvey telling The Athletic when discussing the benefits of such a pre-season adventure: “A great trip. If last year’s tour opened everyone’s eyes to the potential of the club in North America, this year certainly went a long way towards realising its full potential. The support we received as a club was incredible, meaning we are in this wonderful position of being able to take advantage of an opportunity that isn’t usually available to clubs at our level. Or, in fairness, to most clubs.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Harvey added when asked if a third tour will be arranged, with the United States also set to play host to the revamped FIFA Club World Cup in 2025: “The rationale is we have seen the success of taking the team away during pre-season. Not just from a commercial side but also a real practical perspective. I can’t see those circumstances not continuing.”
