    WHAT HAPPENED?

It took just five minutes for Christian Pulisic to give his side the advantage in a crucial clash with relegation-threatened Venezia on Sunday. The U.S. men's national team star made it 1-0 Milan with his first Serie A goal since netting against Parma on March 15.

Played in by Youssouf Fofana, Pulisic made no mistake in sliding the ball into the back of the net to give Milan an advantage they'd never relinquish. It stayed 1-0 until the final seconds, before Mexico star Santi Gimenez made it 2-0 Milan by breaking his own goalscoring drought, netting his first league goal since February.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The goal is huge for Pulisic - it was his 50th goal contribution for Milan - and keeps the club's slim hopes of finishing in a European spot alive. With the win, Milan now sit in ninth place on 54 points, five points behind sixth-place Lazio and fifth-place Juventus and six points behind fourth-place Bologna, although they all have a game in hand.

Milan's best route to Europe remains the Coppa Italia. Pulisic and Co. toppled rivals Inter midweek, booking their date in the finale, which brings with it a chance at a trophy and a Europa League spot.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR MILAN

Milan next face Genoa on May 5. After that, they'll take on Bologna in Serie A on May 11 before the big one: the Coppa Italia against that same Bologna team on May 14.
