‘He thinks he’s Cristiano Ronaldo, but he isn’t!’ - India cricket superstar Virat Kohli sees football skills called into question

Kohli can regularly be spotted kicking a ball around with his international team-mates before important fixtures that see him carry the hopes and dreams of a cricket-obsessed nation. The iconic batsman fancies himself as a bit of a player, but a close friend is not convinced.

Yuvraj has enjoyed plenty of success alongside Kohli in his profession of choice and can see how similarities between the 35-year-old and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo could be drawn when it comes to their work ethic and desire to be the best.

Yuvraj has, however, told the TRS Podcast of Kohli’s ability with a ball at his feet: “He thinks he's a very good footballer, but I have more skills. He is young, he runs around. He thinks he is Cristiano Ronaldo, but he isn't. In cricket, he is. In terms of fitness, it matches (their mentality), and the focus on the game also.”

Kohli is currently in the process of trying to chase down ICC Cricket World Cup glory on home soil, while Portuguese superstar Ronaldo – who has suggested that he could play on to the 2026 World Cup in footballing circles – has hit 21 goals for Al-Nassr this season through just 22 appearances.
