Real Madrid urged to SELL Vinicius Jr by Florentino Perez’s son as officials in Saudi Arabia mull over transfer deal worth between €400-500m

The Brazil international was heavily linked with a move to the Middle East during the summer of 2024, as big-spending clubs in that part of the world set their sights on another marquee addition. No deal was done as Vinicius has a €1 billion (£832m/$1.1bn) release clause in his contract.

While no club is prepared to meet that asking price, it is being suggested that Vinicius could earn that figure over the course of a five-year contract if he were to move to the Saudi Pro League. It is also being claimed that Real could generate a fee between €400-500m (£333-416m/$422-528m).

Vinicius has claimed that he would like to stay at Santiago Bernabeu “forever”, but Sport claims that Blancos officials are considering cashing in before discussions need to begin over a contract that is due to expire in 2027. It is suggested that Chivo Perez, the son of club president Florentino, is in favour of a sale.

Real officials believe that a number of issues could be resolved by parting with one player. Any financial concerns in the Spanish capital would go away, while World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe would be freed to take up his favoured position on the left flank – having struggled for consistency as a central striker.

Sport claims that a huge transfer agreement is a long way from happening, but noises coming out of the Real camp suggest that the Liga giants are not entirely opposed to selling a man that has become a talismanic figure in recent seasons – with his exploits pushing him into Ballon d’Or contention.
