Getty Images SportThe 2025 Clausura season of Liga MX may have marked the peak of Alexis Vega’s career so far. The Toluca forward emerged as a key player under manager Antonio Mohamed, playing a decisive role in securing the league title for the Red Devils against Club América.
Vega’s stats were outstanding: nine goals during the regular season, four more in the playoffs, and an impressive 11 assists throughout the campaign. His standout performances quickly caught the attention of Raúl Jiménez, Fulham’s Mexican striker, who publicly expressed interest in bringing Vega to the Premier League.
During an appearance on the Vamos Show, Jiménez spoke highly of the 27-year-old attacker. “If I could bring anyone to Fulham right now, it would be Alexis Vega,” he said. “He’s having an incredible season with Toluca and could definitely make a big impact here.”
AFPJiménez, who began his career with Club América, has closely followed Vega’s development in Mexican football. While his current focus remains with Fulham - where he recently renewed his contract - Jiménez admitted that a return to América remains part of his long-term plans.
“Why not retire in the Premier League?” he reflected. “But I’d also love to go back to América. It’s something I’ve always had in mind. You never know what the future holds.”
As Vega enjoys the form of his life and Jiménez continues to lead Fulham's front line, both players have one eye on the 2026 World Cup, aiming to contribute significantly to Mexico’s national team campaign.

The Red Devils’ captain, who played a crucial role in the club’s championship run, expressed his desire to test himself overseas. “It’s still a dream I have in my mind,” Vega said. “I don’t want to be left wondering what could have been. I want to play in Europe.”
His statement comes on the heels of a standout season, which has reignited speculation about a potential move abroad. While no official offers have surfaced yet, Vega’s ambition is clear - he's ready to take the next step in his career.

Head coach Javier Aguirre now has his complete roster available as El Tri prepares to defend the title they won in 2023. The team is set to play two international friendlies in the United States as tune-ups before the tournament: the first against Switzerland this Saturday, followed by a match against Turkey on June 10.
