Pulisic, Ferreira, Musah, and the USMNT stars that could earn big transfers at the World Cup

It's safe to say that Pulisic doesn't currently have the role he wants at Chelsea.

Coming off the bench more often than not, Pulisic has largely been a backup under three different managers now, with his fate under Graham Potter seemingly the same as under Thomas Tuchel and Frank Lampard.

Over the last few months, he's been linked with all sorts of clubs, from Juventus to Manchester United to Newcastle to Leeds. The American superstar remains a hot commodity in Europe, even if he hasn't quite had the chance to show it with Chelsea over the last few seasons.

Should he shine at the World Cup, Pulisic would have no shortage of suitors that would be desperate to pry him from Chelsea's bench, while the Blues could also be convinced to keep him after a big tournament.

But, if he falters, it will offer more ammunition to those that say he hasn't done enough to earn a bigger role at Chelsea going forward.

And that's what makes this tournament so vital for the USMNT's most notable player, as his next career step could largely be defined by how he and the U.S. fare in Qatar.

Several MLS stars have made multi-million dollar moves in recent years. Ferreira may just be next.

One of the top goalscorers in MLS this season, Ferreira has a chance to be the USMNT's starting striker in Qatar, having pushed his way right up the depth chart in recent months.

European clubs have been interested before, but FC Dallas were able to fend them off by signing Ferreira to a Designated Player contract. But we all know how World Cups work, and that a strong tournament would likely bring offers FC Dallas would be unable to turn down.

The club will use the $20 million it earned for the sale of Ricardo Pepi as a starting point most likely, with Ferreira having made the U.S. roster over his former team-mate. So, knowing that, a move won't come cheap, but there's no way it ever would given what Ferreira has proven over the last year.

His future remains to be seen, but it may be sped up exponentially if European suitors are given more reason to believe in his game.

While many of his team-mates will be linked with their first or second big transfers, Long is likely staring down his last big move.

The 30-year-old defender has been linked with moves to Europe for several years, but the Red Bulls have rebuffed all advances. Clubs from England and France have been rumored to be interested, but given his importance to the Red Bulls, the club was never willing to budge.

Well, it's out of the Red Bulls' control now. Long's contract with the club is over, leaving him free to move wherever he desires. He could remain in MLS, with the Red Bulls or someone else, but he could also finally get that European move that he's been linked with for so long.

Most clubs aren't dying to sign 30-year-old centerbacks from MLS, but the clubs we're talking about aren't the ones at the top of the food chain. There are plenty of teams in Europe that would be improved by a player that could be a key starter for the U.S. in Qatar.

There are few American players with higher upside than Musah, and clubs are reportedly taking notice.

The ex-Arsenal academy midfielder has been linked with a return to his former club, having left north London for Valencia in search of first-team soccer. Much has changed in the years since, with Musah now a full USMNT regular and a top midfield prospect in La Liga.

It's clear that top clubs are keeping a close eye on Musah and why wouldn't they? He's smooth on the ball and is improving as a central midfielder after finally being moved to the position with Valencia.

However, to those that don't follow American soccer or La Liga, Musah is somewhat of an unknown quantity, despite his upbringing at one of the world's top clubs.

Many fans will get their first look at the midfielder in Qatar, where he should be a regular starter for the U.S.

Juventus' midfield is getting pretty crowded, and reports say McKennie may soon find himself the odd man out.

It's not the first time these rumors have come up and won't be the last, because these are the things that happen at a club like Juventus.

Either way, McKennie will have no shortage of suitors, having been linked to the Premier League and, more specifically, Tottenham, in recent months. He's far from an unknown player like some others on this list, but there's always a bit more value placed on World Cup performances.

Can he use this tournament to springboard himself into Juve's plans? Could he be the subject of one of the megabids that always happen after these competitions? He certainly has the potential.
