The 19-year-old lined up alongside his team-mates and took off his training jacket to put it on the mascot in front of him after it started raining ahead of the headline clash between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Kambwala's heartwarming gesture sparked memories of Real Madrid star Bellingham's similar move late last month when he gave his tracksuit top to a disabled mascot as the rain poured down ahead of England's friendly against Belgium at Wembley.

United centre-back Kambwala made his first senior start at Old Trafford in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool and his eighth first-team appearance for the club overall. The Congo native spoke of his pride at turning out against the Reds, saying to club media: It's my job, it's my passion. I know what I need to do on the pitch. I know I need to give everything from the first moment, to impress and to enjoy it. That's what I like to do. So yeah, it's my passion. And I know, like every time I have the opportunity to be on the pitch, I need to give everything to leave everything on the pitch."

Kambwala will hope to be involved once again when United face Bournemouth in their next Premier League match on Saturday. The Red Devils have not won any of their last three games in the English top-flight.
