'We love you!' - Marquinhos blows a kiss to Gianluigi Donnarumma through TV as PSG captain celebrates Super Cup win after goalkeeper frozen out

Although the Paris Saint-Germain players were revelling in celebrations following their UEFA Super Cup triumph against Tottenham on Wednesday evening, PSG captain Marquinhos took a moment to show his support to the exiled Donnarumma, who is edging closer to a departure from Parc des Princes. Earlier this week, the Brazilian admitted that the Italian's departure would leave him "hurt" but went even further to demonstrate his love for his team-mate after he played an integral part in helping the club clinch their maiden Champions League title in June.

Donnarumma appears to be nearing an exit at PSG, with reports suggesting Manchester City have already reached an agreement to sign the Italian goalkeeper this summer. Despite an impressive season between the posts, Donnarumma has been sidelined by the club, in particular head coach Luis Enrique, and is now entering the final year of his contract. With no progress on a renewal, PSG have moved swiftly to sign young keeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille, signaling a clear shift in their plans. In response, Donnarumma issued a fiery public statement, directly blaming the manager for his situation. Tensions have escalated further, as the former AC Milan star was excluded from the squad for this week’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Tottenham, widely seen as a move by the club to accelerate his departure. 

While celebrating on the field, Marquinhos looked down the television camera and said: "Gigio, we love you, my friend, a kiss!" 

However, he also took a moment to acknowledge Chevalier, telling reporters afterwards: "He delivered. Welcome to him with a trophy!"

The Italy international is all but confirmed to don new colours next season, with agent Enzo Raiola hinting at a potential move to the Premier League before the transfer window ends. Chelsea, who were rumoured to have been interested in acquiring Donnarumma's services, are believed to have pulled out from the race to land the goalkeeper, with Manchester City set to sign him.
