The Red Devils are back in the market for another centre-half as questions continue to be asked of Harry Maguire’s future at Old Trafford. Former Barcelona defender Todibo is said to be figuring prominently on United’s recruitment radar.

Todibo has rebuilt his reputation in France after making just five appearances for Liga giants Barca, with the 23-year-old considered to be fulfilling his undoubted potential. There has been talk of United making a move to acquire the Frenchman in a €40 million (£34m/$43m) deal.

Farioli has addressed those rumours, telling reporters of the speculation that continues to rage around Todibo: “These rumours have existed since the start, so we’ve developed antibodies against them – be it the team or myself. There are a few days left – we’ll see. There is a chance that he stays, and I would be happy because he’s a quality player and he would be very hard to replace. I hope the rumours stay rumours.”

United are expected to step up their interest as the summer transfer window draws to a close, with the Premier League heavyweights having until September 1 in order to get deals over the line – with Todibo seemingly open to the idea of taking on a new challenge in England.
