Barcelona sensation Yamal has revealed how his off-field relationship with the Poland international has changed since the 17-year-old’s rise to fame. Yamal, notably, is less than half the age of Lewandowski, who scored 27 goals in the recently concluded La Liga and narrowly missed out on the Golden Boot.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Yamal joined the Barcelona senior team in 2023 and, since then, has emerged as a top sensation in world football. In 2024-25, under the tutelage of German manager Hansi Flick, he rose to prominence for the Catalans as he registered 18 goals and 25 assists across 55 fixtures. Deployed on the wing, his service to Lewandowski has been pivotal in their recent success. However, apart from their on-field chemistry, the teenager also shares a great off-field relationship with the Pole.

  • WHAT LAMINE YAMAL SAID

Yamal said to Cope: “When I was a youth academy player, we didn't have the relationship we have now. We play together, we train together... We've met up many times off the pitch, we sometimes meet on vacation.”
