There was no love lost between Walker and Maupay when Manchester City faced Brentford in a Premier League clash on Tuesday. During the game, the Brentford forward went into a 50-50 with the English defender, who chopped him down with a rash tackle that saw him get nowhere near the ball, and then picked up a yellow card for his efforts. THE BIGGER PICTURE

The rivalry between the two men started when City faced Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in the Premier League on February 6. The two players got involved in a heated exchange on the pitch and it was later alleged that Walker threatened to "knock out" Maupay for taunting him about his children.

The Bees star later denied those claims, although he did not clarify what exactly he said to infuriate Walker.

Everton loanee Maupay had a night to forget at the Etihad Stadium as he gave away the ball from which Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the match to clinch crucial three points for City in their quest to win a fourth successive Premier League title.
