There is very less info on Apparao, one of the earliest footballing legends from the state of Madras back then. He made his name at East Bengal as part of the famous 'Pancha Pandavas' which included PB Saleh, Ahmed Khan, KP Dhanraj and Venkatesh.
He was the first of the famed five to join East Bengal in 1941. As the right-inside forward, Apparao was crucial to the swashbuckling Red and Golds side in that era. He helped them win a total of 11 trophies.

He also scored against the Chinese Olympic XI in a 2-0 win for East Bengal.

Samson Gunapandian was part of the national team that represented India in the 1972 Munich Olympic qualifiers. He was also the captain of the Tamil Nadu Santosh Trophy Team that reached the final of the competition in 1972.&nbsp;

Thangaraj was one of the best dribblers of his generation and was the star forward and the captain of the famous Western India Match Company (WIMCO) football team in the 1950s. He has represented the country in the Manila Asian Games and has played in the USSR and Romania during his peak playing days. He was selected for the 1948 Olympics team while playing for the Madras State Province team but could not make the trip to England.&nbsp;

Former Tamil Nadu state team forward Sriramulu played for the Indian XI against a visiting Russian team in 1968. The man who was known for his corner-kicks was a regular for the state team in the Santosh Trophy in the 1960s.
After his playing days, he coached several state and junior teams and was also a national referee for several years. He passed away at the age of 78 in 2016.&nbsp;

J "Kittu" Krishnaswamy, who hails from Tanjavur, scored for India against Australia in the quarter-final of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics and played his part to help the country finish fourth.
He has also played for East Bengal.&nbsp;

Kalia, who passed away in a road accident two years ago, will have a special place in the heart of East Bengal supporters. He was a committed player and was part of the Red and Golds team that won successive I-League titles and the ASEAN Championship during the start of the century.
He has also played for clubs like Mumbai FC and FC Kochin as well.

Syed Pasha, who took charge as the assistant coach of Chennaiyin FC ahead of the 2017-18 season, is a well-known ex-footballer from the state. He represented the state in the Santosh Trophy, played for Indian Bank, and chose to remain in Chennai despite offers from elsewhere during his career.&nbsp;
The forward represented India in the '90s and early '00s. He also managed Indian Bank and worked with the AIFF Elite Academy before joining Chennaiyin FC.

Raman Vijayan has a wealth of experience as a footballer and has played for clubs such as East Bengal, FC Kochin, Dempo and Md Sporting. After hanging up his boots, he turned to coaching. He was the assistant coach of Delhi Dynamos in the second season of Indian Super League. He recently founded the Raman Vijayan Soccer School (RVSS) in Tamil Nadu, the academy from where our NxGn talent N Sivasakthi hails from.&nbsp;

The man who scored a goal for India against Peru in the 1960 Rome Olympics hails from Tamil Nadu. He is the last Indian to score at the Olympics and as a coach, he gave Kerala their first Santosh Trophy in 1973.&nbsp;
He was born in Tanjore and plied his trade as a midfielder.
