AFPLiverpool transfer COLLAPSE?! Frustrated PSG star considers shock move elsewhere
Mbaye grows frustrated with negotiations
Liverpool have been dealt a major blow in their ongoing pursuit of PSG forward Mbaye. With the summer transfer window rapidly closing, time is running out for head coach Andoni Iraola to secure vital new attacking personnel.
Per L'Equipe, the Senegalese attacker is currently on the verge of looking elsewhere following a lengthy and exhausting transfer saga. Mbaye reportedly feels that the Reds have prolonged the ordeal for far too long. Consequently, the youngster is now completely open to holding talks with other interested clubs.
Getty ImagesValuation disparity stalls PSG deal
The primary reason behind the stalled negotiations appears to be a significant difference in transfer valuation. Liverpool have fundamentally disagreed with PSG’s strict asking price for the Senegalese international.
The same report state that a massive €20 million disparity currently exists between Liverpool's offer and PSG's financial demands. The two clubs must urgently resolve this gap if a deal is to be completed this summer.
While negotiations are slowly progressing between the clubs, Mbaye’s personal feelings regarding the saga’s length could prove even more costly than PSG’s steep fee demands. His team-mate Bradley Barcola has reportedly echoed similar minor frustrations regarding the delays.
Attacking options remain dangerously thin
Liverpool are desperately trying to bolster their attacking ranks following the recent departure of club icon Mohamed Salah. The Reds' performance last season have significantly fallen from their previous perch, especially given that they also lost a number of key players such as Curtis Jones, Ibrahima Konate, and Andrew Robertson this summer.
Iraola arrived at Anfield after Arne Slot was sacked following a torrid 2025-26 campaign. Despite bringing in Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet and Barcelona loanee Ronald Araujo, Liverpool still severely lack a true statement signing. To compound their attacking woes, the Reds recently saw a €50m bid rejected by Brighton for Yankuba Minteh. Meanwhile, Dutch forward Cody Gakpo is currently being heavily linked with a swift departure to Tottenham Hotspur.

If Liverpool fail to sign either of the PSG duo or their Brighton target, Iraola will be left with some of the thinnest winger options in the English top flight. The damaging news of Mbaye's frustration arrives less than ten days before the end of the crucial transfer window. The Redes must now act decisively if they wish to salvage the proposed transfer. Meanwhile, Iraola's side will kick off the 2026-27 Premier League season with an away match against Newcastle at St James' Park on Sunday.
