Gary Lineker’s nephew tragically dies at 18 after being crushed by falling tree in horrifying work incident

Per The Telegraph - an inquest into the death was opened last week at Oxford Coroner’s Court, with details of what happened now emerging. The incident in question took place on September 6, as Parkinson was carrying out work as a tree surgeon.

A GoFundMe page has been set up in Parkinson’s memory, with over £32,000 being pledged in donations so far. The funds raised will be used by the Parkinson family to “create a beautiful memorial or event to celebrate the life of their much-loved son Jonty”.

Parkinson was the nephew of Match of the Day host Lineker through his marriage to Michelle Cockayne – with whom the ex-England international shares four children: George, Harry, Tobias and Angus. Parkinson’s mother, Ali Cockayne, is Michelle’s sister.

George Lineker has posted on social media after learning of the tragic events: “One of the nicest boys you’ll meet, taken far too soon. Fly high cousin, you’ll be missed by all.” His brother, Tobias, said in a post of his own: “Taken from us far too soon, rest in peace little cousin.”
