'Class act' - Alisha Lehmann becomes social media 'hero' after Aston Villa star's heart-warming interaction with disabled fan before WSL game

Lehmann was getting off the Aston Villa team bus ahead of her side's match against West Ham when she spotted a young supporter in a wheelchair waving at her. The Swiss striker went straight over to warmly embrace the supporter before collecting her bag and heading into the stadium. The video, originally posted on the fan's Instagram story, soon went viral.

With an Instagram following of 16.1 million - bigger than some WSL clubs - Lehmann is a huge star on and off the pitch. But that doesn't mean she doesn't have time for her fans.

It was a big game for Lehmann, who was facing the club she left to join Villa in 2021. Though the 24-year-old started the match on the bench, she came on as a late substitute before Rachel Daly scored an injury-time stunner to secure a dramatic 3-2 win for Villa.

Social media users quickly picked up on the video and praised Lehmann for her kind gesture. One person labeled the striker a "class act", while another described her as a "hero". One fan echoed the thoughts of many by saying: "This is absolutely lovely to see."

Lehmann has started just three of Villa's seven WSL games this season, while Carla Ward's side sit just two points above the relegation zone. Both will look to turn their seasons around when Villa host Blackburn in the League Cup on Wednesday and then Everton in the WSL on Sunday.
