Although Casado extended his contract with Barcelona until 2028, the club is reportedly open to negotiating his departure, as revealed by Sport. While the Catalan side values Casado’s abilities and future potential, the competition for spots in midfield and the financial need to offload assets have put the youngster in the shop window.

The report mentions that Barcelona have set a price tag of €50 million (£43m/$59m) for Casado, well above his estimated market value of €30m (£26m/$35m). Chelsea, known for aggressive investment in youth and long-term talents, are understood to be keen on Casado, whose profile fits their ongoing squad-building philosophy. However, they’re not alone, with Atletico Madrid also believed to have inquired about the 20-year-old’s availability.

Even if a suitable offer arrives, the midfielder’s personal preference may be a stumbling block. Casado has deep ties with Barcelona, having come through their academy and consistently expressed his passion for the club. His willingness to part ways with the Catalan giants remains unclear, and any potential transfer would require his approval.

Casado began the previous season on a high note, featuring regularly and earning plaudits for his performances. However, once Frenkie de Jong returned from injury in February, Casado found himself pushed out of the rotation. In addition to De Jong’s importance in midfield, Hansi Flick is also aiming to elevate the status of another La Masia graduate, Marc Bernal.
