Chelsea make decision over potential January bid for Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after Robert Sanchez injury

Chelsea no.1 Robert Sanchez picked up an injury during the Blues' 2-0 loss against Everton at Goodison Park. In the aftermath, it was reported that Mauricio Pochettino could be enticed by a move for Ramsdale, who has reportedly been unhappy with the Gunners after he lost his place to David Raya, who is on loan at the club from Brentford. However, The Standard reports that the Blues have decided against the signing of the English goalkeeper as they trust Petrovic in goal.

Mauricio Pochettino said about Petrovic [via The Standard]: "It was an important debut for him and good when you keep a clean sheet, it was good."

The report states that the club are willing to give their summer signing a chance instead of bidding to sign Ramsdale from the Gunners.

In Saturday's 2-0 victory over Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge, Petrovic started for the first time for Chelsea. Chelsea signed Petrovic for £14 million from the New England Revolution, as real competition for Sanchez in the summer and the club believes he can handle the challenge.

Despite having spent more than £1 billion on new players under owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, the Blues are sure they can spend more in the transfer market and yet adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations. Chelsea's top goal is to recruit a striker or flexible forward rather than any other position and could make multiple sales to complete the signing.
