Carlo Ancelotti slams 'ugly speculation' on Kylian Mbappe's mental health and says 'it's just a matter of time' before Real Madrid star hits form

Mbappe has been in the headlines recently after struggling to find his best form since moving to Real Madrid and being left out of the France squad by manager Didier Deschamps. The national team boss has said he has overlooked Mbappe for his last two squads because he is in a "difficult period" and is battling “physical" and "psychological” issues.

It's no surprise therefore to see Ancelotti asked about Mbappe ahead of Real Madrid's next La Liga game against Leganes. Mbappe has not found the back of the net for Los Blancos in his last four games, but Ancelotti is backing his summer signing to come good.

Ancelotti was asked if Mbappe was struggling with his mental health and told reporters: "What a questionI don't think so, I see him happy and happy to be here. Speculating on this seems too ugly to me."

The Madrid boss went on to back his French star, adding: "It happens to all great strikers, he [Mbappe] can get frustrated but that's not his case. I see him motivated and happy to train with his teammates. Sooner or later he will break that streak of games in which he hasn't scored goals. Tomorrow he will have a great game because it is just a matter of time. He has incredible quality and sooner or later he will show it."

Mbappe will be hoping to end his recent drought against Leganes on Sunday in La Liga. Los Blancos then head to Liverpool for a monster Champions League clash at Anfield.
