    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Barcelona were considered to be the favourites to land the youngster as Willian had earlier mentioned that he dreams of playing for the Catalan giants but they could miss out on signing him as the other competitors are more likely to match the player's release clause that is €60 million (£52m/$66m) set by Verdao, according to Mundo Deportivo.

In October, the player's father travelled to Europe where he visited several top clubs like City, Chelsea and PSG. Similar to his son's desire, his father also wants him to represent the Catalan giants but they are unlikely to spend a hefty amount considering their ongoing financial constraint.
