  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The Blaugrana were crowned Spanish champions for the 28th time after they beat Espanyol 2-0 on Thursday. Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez were on target as the Catalan club wrapped up the title with two games to spare. Hansi Flick's side had earlier won the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey titles and to celebrate a successful 2024-25 campaign, the team organised a victory parade which was conducted from Camp Nou to Arc de Triomf in front of a massive 670,000 fans.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    During the celebrations, Barcelona defenders Inigo Martinez and Ronald Araujo both suffered spectacular falls which appeared to entertain their team-mates and provoked plenty of laughter, according to Mundo Deportivo. Araujo tumbled after trying to boot a ball into the crowd, while Martinez seemed to go over the side.

    Barcelona will face Villarreal next in La Liga on Sunday in their penultimate match of the 2024-25 campaign. There will be more celebrations after the game as they will be handed the trophy for winning La Liga.
