Will Arsenal spend in the January window? Mikel Arteta gives clear response to transfer question after dismal Fulham defeat

The Gunners have suffered back-to-back defeats in London derby dates with Fulham and West Ham, while also being held to a 1-1 draw away at Liverpool. They have squandered the opportunity to head into 2024 as Premier League leaders as a result.

An opportunity to bolster the ranks at Emirates Stadium has now presented itself, with another recruitment market open for business, but Arteta has told talkSPORT when asked about possible movement in north London: “What I want is the players that have taken us all this way in the half of the season, we continue to work with them. That's it.”

Arsenal did make three signings in the January window of 2023, with Leandro Trossard, Jorginho and Jakub Kiwior snapped up. They have been linked with a number of players over recent weeks, with there plenty of gossip to be found regarding supposed interest in Brentford striker Ivan Toney – who is about to return from an eight-month ban.

The Gunners have been a little short on firepower of late, but Arteta does not appear overly concerned by that as he readies his side for an FA Cup third round clash with title rivals Liverpool on Sunday.
