Arsenal eyeing move for Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi but face paying up to €40m amid competition from PSG as Mikel Arteta seeks depth beyond David Raya
Atalanta star Marco Carnesecchi has reportedly emerged as a target for Arsenal but he will not be available on the cheap.
Corriere dello Sport claims Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old amid an 'extraordinary' season for Atalanta. The report adds Mikel Arteta's team are the 'most interested' in him but the Italian side want at least €40-50 million (£33-41.5m) for his services.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Arsenal tried and failed to sign Espanyol stopper Joan Garcia in the summer as a number two behind David Raya, before settling on Beto from Bournemouth on loan. The Gunners balked at Garcia's €30m (£25m/$33m) price tag and the same may be said for Carnesecchi.
DID YOU KNOW?
Carnesecchi has had to be patient at Atalanta, a place he has called his own since 2018. He had multiple loan spells at Cremonese and Trapani in Serie B, before finally making his mark at the Serie A team from 2023 onwards.

WHAT NEXT?
Speculation over Carnesecchi's future is only likely to increase when the January transfer window opens in a few days but he is unlikely to leave while Atalanta are vying for multiple trophies this season.
