The Ivory Coast international, who will not be taking part in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil, has seen another loan switch speculated on with the January transfer window now open. There has been talk of him returning to the Championship – having caught the eye at that level last season with Sunderland.

    WHAT AMAD SAID

Amad has, however, worked hard to recover from a serious knee injury suffered during pre-season and remains determined to make his mark in Manchester. He has told United Review: “Now I’ve come in with more belief and with the desire to help the team as I’ve always wanted to do, and I want to continue on this path. Whenever the coach calls me up or sends me on the pitch, I want to be always present to help the team.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Amad made his return to action off the bench in a meeting with Nottingham Forest at the end of 2023 and is eager to see more minutes heading forward – particularly on home soil. He added: “It’s every child’s dream and every football player’s dream to play at Old Trafford and especially for me: I was born in Africa, and I used to watch matches at Old Trafford on the telly and now to find myself playing on that pitch is something really special for me and I want to savour every minute.”

    WHAT NEXT FOR AMAD?

The talented 21-year-old is up to 10 appearances in total for United, with one Europa League goal recorded in his debut campaign, and opportunities may come his way after seeing Antony struggle at Old Trafford and Jadon Sancho return to Borussia Dortmund on loan – with there little money for Ten Hag to spend during the winter window.
