AC Milan consider Granit Xhaka offer amid Bayer Leverkusen exit links as Serie A side hope to partner ex-Arsenal star with Luka Modric

Milan are evaluating a potential summer move for the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, according to Matteo Moretto. The Rossoneri are considering several options to enhance their midfield, including the Swiss international. Xhaka appears willing to leave the Bundesliga team, but reports indicate that neither Leverkusen nor the player have received any official contact.

Having joined from Arsenal in 2023 for €15 million (£13m/$16m), the 32-year-old is on contract with Leverkusen until June 2028.

Milan are rebuilding their midfield core, with Modric expected to join on a free transfer from Real Madrid. Xhaka is seen as an additional profile who might provide the Croatian veteran more expertise and calmness. The 32-year-old made 49 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 season with two goals and seven assists and now is looking for a new challenge since Xabi Alonso left Leverkusen to take over as Madrid's new manager.

Since joining Leverkusen, Xhaka has made 99 appearances, contributing six goals and nine assists over two seasons and also helped them win the historic Bundesliga title in 2023-24.

Xhaka remains under contract with the German club, but developments are expected in the following weeks. For now, he is focused on international duty with games against Mexico and United States coming up. Milan, who are closely observing the matter, could formally approach him in July. Any agreement will depend on Leverkusen's valuation and the outcomes of Milan's other midfield targets.
