Aaron Ramsdale to join Jordan Henderson at Ajax? Dutch giants 'optimistic' about sealing surprise transfer for Arsenal goalkeeper as he seeks first-team role

Per David Ornstein, Ajax reportedly approached Arsenal with an initial loan bid for their out-of-favour goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, however, the Gunners have turned down the offer as they want the England international to leave permanently this summer.

Earlier this summer, the north London side completed the permanent transfer of David Raya from Brentford, having had him on loan for the 2023-24 season. Ornstein also reports that the Premier League giants have already identified Ramsdale's replacement as they eye a move for Espanyol’s Joan Garcia whom they consider to be the ideal backup for Raya.

It is no secret that Ramsdale wants to move away from the Emirates Stadium as he seeks more first-team appearances in the upcoming 2024-25 season. Since Raya's arrival at Arsenal, the English custodian has managed to make just 11 appearances across all competitions.

Ajax are expected to come back with an improved bid as they seemed determined to rope in the 26-year-old in the ongoing summer transfer window. Should they be successful, Ramsdale will link up with fellow England international Jordan Henderson at club level for the first time, with the former Liverpool star having joined Ajax in the January transfer window.
