The U.S. national team and Mexico are two sides going through a team rebuild, and will face each other at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday evening.
Both are sides in transition, with Mexico picking up the pieces following an average World Cup campaign and introducing a fresh squad to lead the new generation of El Tri, as the search for a permanent manager continues.
The USMNT are also in the process of appointing a new head coach following their failure to qualify for this summer's World Cup finals in Russia.
They both come off the back of disappointing friendly defeats – Mexico losing 4-1 to Uruguay and the USMNT beaten 2-0 by Brazil – and their showdown on Tuesday could represent the start of a new era.

The USMNT and Mexico rivalry is a storied one, and Tuesday's clash should be nothing short of intense. Both sides will not only be fuelled by their rivalry but their aim to bounce back from two miserable defeats.
With the majority of each side's obvious stars and experienced players not included in the team and a slew of young talent to feature, it will be the chance to showcase what is to come for the next generation.

The USMNT will be dejected following a 2-0 loss to an all-star Brazil team that fielded all of its big names, with Neymar leading the line. The half-empty MetLife Stadium in New Jersey was a sorry sight for Dave Sarachan's side, though they will be eager to lift spirits and bounce back with a performance against El Tri.
Mexico also suffered a loss to South American opposition - 4-1 to Uruguay - with Barcelona forward Luis Suarez scoring twice in eight minutes. The most recent result between Mexico and the USMNT was a 1-1 draw in June 2017 in a World Cup qualifier, and both sides will be desperate to win this time around.
