Sarri's appointment as Chelsea manager ended a long period of speculation over Antonio Conte's future, with the announcement having been made on July 14. The team can now focus on preparing for the new season and establishing themselves as genuine title-challengers.

The former Napoli boss will be tasked with bettering the disappointing fifth-placed finish that was the downfall of Conte's time at Stamford Bridge, as the club managed to finish 30 points behind champions Manchester City.

New signing Jorginho, who followed Sarri from Napoli, was a standout player in Chelsea's otherwise unimpressive 1-0 win against Perth Glory and will be relishing a chance to feature against an Italian side.

Key players Eden Hazard, N'Golo Kante, Olivier Giroud and Thibaut Courtois remain unavailable due to their duties at the FIFA World Cup in Russia, though the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Alvaro Morata and Pedro should all be in contention to start in Nice after they gave promising displays in Perth.

Sarri will be tempted to rejig the Chelsea lineup and introduce the side to his own formations, and the ICC fixture against Inter will be a chance for him to test out new tactics ahead of the start of the Premier League season.

Inter will be looking to register a win against the Blues and need momentum going into the new season after winning one of their four pre-season matches.

The Italian side managed to beat Lugano in a previous friendly, but lost to Sion and managed draws against the likes of Zenit Saint Petersburg and Sheffield United.

They will be expected to call upon the talents of star forward Mauro Icardi as they look to earn a win against Sarri's side.
