Player Ratings: USA 2-3 Brazil

Brazil are 2009 Confederations Cup champions after a 3-2 win over United States. rates the players on show...

Howard 8 - A string of superb saves throughout the game. Denied Robinho (twice), Felipe Melo, Maicon, Andre Santos, Lucio, Fabiano, and most memorably Kaka, even if the ball probably crossed the line. Blameless on the three goals that beat him.

Spector 6.5 - Got the better of Andre Santos in the first half, and provided the cross for Dempsey's opener. Had real problems after the interval and was skinned by Kaka for Fabiano's second.

DeMerit  6 - Formed a tight central partnership with Onyewu for the first hour, although he perhaps could have been a little tighter on Fabiano for the striker's goal. Toiled in the last 30.

Onyewu 6 -  Like DeMerit, 'Gooch' was a tower of strength at the back for the first two-thirds, but then all the Brazilian pressure told. Was fortunate to escape when playing Fabiano clean onside on 70 minutes.

Bocanegra 6 - Led by example, and performed a crucial diving interception before half time to deny Fabiano a certain goal. Troubled by Maicon in the second half.

Dempsey 7 - Had a fine first half, opening the scoring with a sweeping finish. Could not get in the game in the second 45, and he lost Lucio during one good Brazil chance, and was outjumped for Lucio's winner.

Feilhaber 6 - Worked incredibly hard in the midfield to close down the likes of Felipe Melo and Kaka, but tired as the game wore on, and was subbed.

Clark 6 - Another who worked hard to shut down Brazil, but the superior technical quality of the Selecao really started to show the longer the game went on.

Donovan 8.5 - The best player on the pitch in the first half, tearing Brazil to shreds on the counter and scoring a superb goal. Had few chances in the second half as Brazil took total command.

Altidore 4.5 - Tried his best, but even when United States were on top in the first half he made minimal impact. After the break he completely failed to ease the pressure by holding the ball up.

Davies 7.5 - Had a fine game in attack did the Hammarby man, assisting Donovan's goal and causing problems with his pace. Shame he was partnering the disappointing Altidore.

Bornstein 6 - Added a bit of energy.

Kljestan 6 - A few neat touches.

Julio Cesar 5.5 - Slow moving his feet in order to get across for Dempsey's goal, but could do nothing on Donovan's strike. Aside from that had little to do.

Maicon 7 - A powerhouse coming forward, especially in the second half when he ran rampant down the right and assisted Fabiano's first. Suspect defensively at times, though, and he gave the ball away in the build-up to Donovan's goal.

Lucio 7.5 - Headed home the late winner to give Brazil the Confederations Cup, and also went close to scoring earlier on. Defensively he was occasionally out of position, but it didn't matter in the end.

Luisao 6.5 - Like his partner at the back, Luisao had problems in the first half, but he improved after the break, performing one outstanding tackle on Davies.

Andre Santos 5.5 - Struggled badly in the first half, and was exposed on a number of occasions. Improved before being replaced by Dani Alves.

Gilberto 6.5 - The weak point of the Brazil team in the first half, and lost Dempsey for the first goal. Helped the South Americans take charge in the second period.

Felipe Melo 7.5 - After a slow start, Felipe Melo gradually began to exert his influence, and he was completely dominant during the second half as Brazil launched wave after wave of attack.

Ramires 5.5 - Failed to make any impact on the game offensively, and was also turned inside out by Donovan for the USA's second goal. Brazil improved when he came off.

Kaka 8.5 - Brazil's most consistent player tonight as he looked dangerous throughout. Hit the bar with a header that appeared to cross the line, and assisted Luis Fabiano's equaliser after a trademark run.

Robinho 7 - A nearly game for Robinho. Denied by Howard on a host of occasions, Robinho also hit the bar prior to Luis Fabiano's equaliser.

Luis Fabiano 9 - Criticised by many, Luis Fabiano finished the tournament as top-scorer after firing home two crucial goals tonight. Could have grabbed a hat-trick, but was denied by Howard.

Dani Alves 7 - Provided extra spice to the Brazil offence after replacing Andre Santos.

Elano 7 - Added some much-needed guile that helped Brazil break down the USA.
