Bundesliga Sunday Round-Up: Frankfurt Edge Freiburg, Schalke Keep Pace With Leaders

Schalke 2-0 Koeln

Throughout the first half, Koeln did well to maintain possession and keep their hosts at bay. However, Schalke were able to force a goal on the stroke of halftime as Joel Matip headed in Lukas Schmitz's corner.

In the second half, Koeln were forced to chase the game, but Schalke's defense was characteristically rock-solid. Late in the game, Jefferson Farfan made it 2-0 with a tap-in, and Schalke moved back to within three points of Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.

Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 Freiburg

Struggling side Freiburg got off to a great start today as Papiss Demba Cisse struck the opener on 25 minutes. Frankfurt fought back, however, and Benjamin Koehler netted in a fine free kick before the half. The high-flying hosts were twice denied by the post before new signing Halil Altintop fired in the winner at the death.
