Oguchi Onyewu Joins USA Team For Light Training

Oguchi Onyewu trained for the first time since surgery on Oct. 21, according to the AP. The central defender ruptured the patellar tendon in his knee during the United States' last World Cup qualifier, against Costa Rico on Oct. 14.

On Thursday, Onyewu participated in light training with the largely domestic-based American team training in Carson, Calif. After joining the training session once more on Friday, Onyewu will remain in California and continue his rehabilitation. The rest of the squad will face El Salvador on Wednesday in Florida.

Once fully fit, the 27-year-old will rejoin his club, AC Milan, in Italy.
