Official: Alberto Aquilani Signs New Roma Contract

The midfielder has put pen to paper onto a new deal until June 2013...
As expected, Roma star Alberto Aquilani has extended his contract with the club until 2013, it has been announced on the club's official website, asroma.it.

An agreement was reached with the player and the economic details of his new deal have been released as well.

The player will earn gross compensations of €3.2 million for this season, €3.6 million for 2009/10, €3.9 for 2010/11, and €4.5 million for the following two seasons after that. The Italian international can also earn bonuses based on meeting certain performance targets.

Aquilani's previous deal expired in 2010 and last winter it was suggested both Inter and Juventus were keen on acquiring the 24-year-old.

However, the Euro 2008 participant has had an injury plagued campaign, only making 14 appearances in Serie A. He has claimed he is hoping to do better next season in order to secure a place in the 2010 World Cup.
