Women's Ballon d'Or 2024 Power Rankings: Aitana Bonmati's second Golden Ball in the post after star role in Barcelona's Champions League triumph

Barcelona completed an historic first quadruple on the women's side with victory in the Champions League final and such remarkable success is sure to make the Catalans' star players a feature of the awards season when it rolls around later this year, with most of the front-runners for the Ballon d'Or representing the Blaugrana.

Aitana Bonmati won the crown last year, following back-to-back victories for her Spain and Barcelona team-mate, Alexia Putellas. The chances of another Spaniard or another Barca star getting their hands on the famous accolade are high again, and that's all before La Roja enter this summer’s Olympics as the favourite to win gold.

There are a lot of factors that come into play when it comes to the Ballon d’Or Feminin - and all individual awards in the women’s game, even. With the sport still growing in coverage and recognition, some who wholly deserve to be nominated can often be overlooked if they aren’t a well-known name, making performances on the biggest of stages even more important.
