Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Spurs are next in action against Huddersfield Town in the Premier League at home on Saturday. City play Crystal Palace on the road on Sunday in their next outing.
Tottenham take a 1-0 lead into the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash against Manchester City courtesy of Son Heung-min's strike in the 78th minute. Neither side were at their best this evening, but Spurs produced the one moment of quality as Son collected Christian Eriken's offload in the right inside channel, and despite making an initial mistake he was able to drill his effort under Ederson. Mauricio Pochettino's side got the victory, although it came at a price as Harry Kane limped off the pitch with an apparent ankle injury after colliding with Fabian Delph. Dele Alli also left the field clutching his hand late in the game. Losing those two key players could be a huge blow to Tottenham's hopes in the competition along with their quest to finish in the top four of the Premier League. City were off the pace this evening and were made to rue Sergio Aguero's miss from the spot. The effort from 12 yards from the Argentine epitomised City's performance - lacklustre. Pep Guardiola has a lot of work to do with his team to get them firing for the second leg where they will be under huge pressure to advance to the last four.
90' + 6' FULL-TIME: TOTTENHAM 1-0 MANCHESTER CITY
90' + 6' OVER! De Bruyne puts his delivery on the money in the box and Lloris comes off his line to punch clear. The ball loops towards the penalty spot where Fernandinho heads at goal, only to guide his effort over the bar.
90' + 5' Sane is brought down by Wanyama on the left flank. De Bruyne will have one final opportunity to send a cross into the box.
90' + 4' De Bruyne pulls his man one way then the other to fire a low ball into the middle. Jesus tries to reach it on the stretch, but Lloris gathers at his near post.
90' + 3' Rose releases Son down the right inside channel with an incisive pass. However, the winger fails to find a team-mate with his low cross into the middle as Ederson gathers.
90' + 2' Rose makes good headway down the left flank in a battle with Sane. He wins his duel, but sends a disappointing cross into the box.
90' There will be six minutes of added time.

87' Llorente replaces Alli for the home side.
86' Alli is down holding his wrist for the home side. Pochettino will be pulling his hair out over these injuries to his key players.
84' Silva tries to work the ball through to Jesus in the final third, but the Brazilian is caught offside. City have been below-par this evening.
84' Walker surges down the right flank and he fires the ball low into the box, but Sissoko is well placed for the home side to clear the danger.
83' Son has now scored as many goals in 40 games in all competitions this season for Spurs as he managed in 53 appearances in the whole of 2017-18 (18).
V. Wanyama
H. Winks
Tottenham Hotspur
81' Winks is withdrawn for Wanyama for the home side.
79' There are nerves around the stadium as the referee checks for offside through VAR. However, Son was onside and the goal stands.

Goal
Tottenham Hotspur
78' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! SON FIRES TOTTENHAM AHEAD!!! 1-0!! Spurs take the lead against the run of play as Son drills a low strike through Ederson. Eriksen releases Son down the right inside channel, but the winger initially takes a poor touch. The ball almost travels out of play, but he keeps it alive. The City defence stop and are convinced that the ball has gone out. Son continues and gets a step on Delph before striking his effort with his left foot underneath Ederson into the net.
77' Another worry for Pochettino on the bench as Son goes down, although he appears to be okay.
76' BLOCK! Sterling weaves his way through traffic in the Tottenham box before he offloads to Silva, but the Spaniard sees his effort blocked by a wall of white shirts.
75' OVER! City move the ball around the final third. Mahrez whips in a cross from the right flank towards Jesus, who guides his headed effort over the bar. Replays show that the ball flicked off Vertonghen's head last and what is a Tottenham goal-kick should have been a corner to the visitors.
73' WIDE! Delph latches on to a loose ball on the left flank and goes for a drive at goal, only to smash his effort wide of the target.
72' Jesus plays on the shoulder of the Vertonghen and Alderweireld, but moves too soon from Silva's throughball as the linesman's flag is raised for offside.
Gabriel Jesus
S. Agüero
Manchester City
71' It has not been Aguero's night and he makes way for Jesus for the final 19 minutes.
69' Sissoko robs Gundogan of possession in the middle of the park and he feeds Alli in the final third. The midfielder does not have a lot of support and goes for goal himself, only to see his effort blocked.
67' Tottenham put the pressure on Gundogan as the German loses possession. However, Silva is there to clean up for City before the former wins a free-kick from a challenge by Alli.
65' The game is still there for the taking for both sides, although the odds are stacked against Tottenham without Kane.
63' OFFSIDE! Sterling runs across the edge of the box and opts against the strike, instead clipping the ball into the feet of Silva. However, the Spaniard is flagged offside, although Lloris was there with the challenge anyway.
61' Eriksen and Trippier fail to find ther targets with further crosses into the box. Spurs have lacked quality in the final third to find the breakthrough.
60' Trippier puts the resulting free-kick into the box, but the City defence are able to scramble it behind under pressure.

59' Mahrez brings down Lucas on the charge and goes into the book.
Lucas Moura
H. Kane
Tottenham Hotspur
58' Confirmation that Kane has been forced off with an ankle injury. Lucas replaces the forward for the home side.
55' Kane collides with Delph on the sideline and he makes his way off the pitch. He limps down the tunnel. It would be a huge blow for Spurs to lose their key man.
54' Ederson is okay to continue much to the relief of Guardiola on the bench. The Brazilian gets the game back underway.
52' Ederson comes off his line to claim a deep cross from Trippier and falls awkwardly over Otamendi in the process of making the catch. He receives treatment on the pitch.
50' City apply pressure from a couple of corners before the home side are able to break out. Son goes for a low strike from the edge of the box that is saved with ease by Ederson.
48' WIDE! Son collects on the right flank before cutting inside to bend an effort at goal on his left foot. His effort threatens the right-bottom corner of Ederson's goal, but it just drifts wide of the post.
47' SAVE! City catch out Spurs at the back as Aguero lifts the ball from right to left for Sterling. The forward takes a touch before firing a low strike at goal. Lloris makes the save, although he palms it out into the middle of the box. Fortunately Alderweireld is there to clear for the home side.
46' We're back underway in this Champions League quarter-final clash.
City have been far from their best and the amount of matches that the club have played recently could just be catching up with them. They have been flat in their demeanour on the pitch and are in need of a spark to jolt them into life. Tottenham need to capitalise in the second half to take an advantage to the Etihad Stadium for the second leg.
It's goalless at the break in the first leg of this Champions League quarter-final clash between Tottenham and Manchester City. The visitors had a huge opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty after VAR deemed that Danny Rose had blocked Raheem Sterling's strike with his arm. Sergio Aguero stepped up, but his strike was saved by Hugo Lloris. At the other end, Harry Kane had an opening at goal, only to blast his effort straight at Ederson. It has been a nervy contest between the two sides, with neither operating at the peak of their powers yet.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: TOTTENHAM 0-0 MANCHESTER CITY
45' + 2' Vertonghen lands awkwardly after leaping in the air with Aguero. Tottenham kick the ball out for the defender to receive treatment, but he appears to be fine.
45' + 1' Mahrez works the ball to Aguero, who goes for the strike from 20 yards, only to place his attempt wide of the post.
45' There will be two minutes of added time.
44' Tottenham are applying pressure high up the pitch to prevent City from establishing a rhythm in their passing game. The visitors have not been at the peak of their powers this evening.
42' Rose whips the ball low towards the middle of the goal. All it needs is a touch from a Tottenham player to knock it past Ederson, but the Brazilian watches it all the way into his grasp.
42' Son is pulled back by Sterling on the edge of the box as he tries to make a forward run. The referee awards Spurs the free-kick, which will be taken by Rose.
40' Fernandinho and Kane collide in the middle of the park. There is a bit of afters between the two players. Tottenham get the free-kick, while there is no yellow card for the City midfielder.
39' Aguero collects 35 yards from goal and surges forward to the edge of the box. He goes for a low strike that he pulls well wide of the target.
37' BLOCK! Eriksen sees his free-kick charged down by the City wall. The Dane blasts the ball back into the box where it rebounds for Kane. He slides a pass into the right inside channel for Son. The winger lifts a cross into the mddle that evades Alli, but Vertonghen swings his boot towards. City are disciplined at the back once again to block the strike before Son is caught offside.
36' Otamendi brings down Kane in the final third 30 yards from goal. The referee awards Tottenham a free-kick in a dangerous position.
34' Kane battles in the air for the ball in an aerial duel with Laporte from Trippier's cross, but he guides his attempt wide of the target.
32' Trippier slipped during the City free-kick and appeared to be clutching his groin. However, he appears to be okay to continue.
31' City win a free-kick on the right flank as Mahrez draws a foul. Gundogan whips the ball into the box for Otamendi's run. The Argentine is unmarked, but he guides his attempt straight at Lloris. The City defender can breathe a sigh of a relief as the offside flag was raised after the fact.
29' OVER! Eriksen fails to beat the first man with his cross before Trippier helps out to blast the ball low into the middle. The ball rebounds out to Winks to strike off balance, but he can only scoop his attempt over the bar.

28' Laporte brings down Alli on the right flank and goes into the book. Eriksen will whip the cross in from the right flank.
27' Mahrez has a run at Rose - who is on a yellow card. The Spurs left-back edges the winger out of play to earn Tottenham a goal-kick, although he took a chance with his pressure in the box.
25' Aguero has missed more penalties in the Champions League since his debut season (2008/09) than any other player (4).
24' SAVE! Kane is denied by Ederson. Alli is taken out on the byline by Otamendi, but the referee waves play on allowing Eriksen to slide a pass to Kane as the referee plays advantage. The striker takes a touch before firing a low strike towards goal, but it's straight at the City keeper allowing the Brazilian to make the stop.
22' Kane tries to find Son with a cross-field pass, but the ball evades the winger on the right flank. Tottenham need to be better in possession to play the game on their terms.
20' Lloris has saved all three of the penalties that he has faced in all competitions in 2019, stopping efforts against Leicester City, Arsenal and Manchester City tonight.
19' It has been a tense start to the game from both sides. Aguero's miss from the spot has epitomised the nervy nature of the contest.
17' Spurs probe down the right flank where Trippier lifts a cross into the box, but his delivery is too high for the head of Alli in the middle.
15' Spurs break on the counter and Kane goes down in an aerial challenge with Otamendi. The home fans appeal for a penalty, but it was a 50/50 challenge between two committed players in the box.

12' Rose is booked for his handball in the box.
12' PENALTY TO MANCHESTER CITY! The referee overturns his initial decision and points to the penalty spot. City have a chance to take the lead from 12 yards.
11' VAR! The referee wants to take a look at the block from Rose as it may have hit the defender on the arm. Bjorn Kuipers walks across to the tv monitor on the sideline for a second glance.
10' BLOCK! Sterling runs at the Tottenham defence from left to right. He goes for the strike from the edge of the box, but Rose slides to divert his effort wide of the post.
8' OVER! Tottenham have the first opening of the game. Alli wins the ball in the middle of the park before releasing the run of Sissoko. The Frenchman clips the ball into the box for the run of Alli, who lines up a volley at goal, only to send his effort over the bar.
6' City are knocking the ball slowly around the pitch, but are not making the inroads into the Tottenham half that Guardiola would like to see.
4' Both teams appear to be sizing each other up in the early stages of the contest. City are seeing a lot of the ball, but are restricted to their own half.
2' City work the ball down the left flank as Sterling releases the run of Silva into the box, but the Spaniard is caught offside as he fires wide of the target.
1' Kane charges down the kick-off immediately and the ball loops towards the edge of the City box, but Ederson makes the claim inside his penalty area.
1' We're underway at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Manchester City have won 11 of their last 16 matches against Spurs (D1 L4), with all those meetings coming in the Premier League; they’ve won their last three in a row.
City welcome back Aguero into the fold after missing their FA Cup semi-final win over Brighton and Hove Albion. The Argentine missed the last two games due to injury, but returns to lead the line as one of four changes. Delph, Fernandinho and Mahrez also come into the side after missing out on a starting berth at Wembley. Jesus and De Bruyne drop to the bench, while Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy miss out altogether.
Spurs have made one change to their side that beat Crystal Palace in the Premier League last time out. Winks comes into the middle of the park, which results in a reshuffle. Rose drops back to left-back after playing in an advanced role ahead of Davies, who drops out of the side to accomodate Winks. Kane leads the line supported by Alli and Son.
SUBS: Vincent Kompany, John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden, Arijanet Muric.
MANCHESTER CITY (4-3-3): Ederson; Kyle Walker, Nicolas Otamendi, Aymeric Laporte, Fabian Delph; Ilkay Gundogan, Fernandinho, David Silva; Riyad Mahrez, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling.

City have underperformed in the Champions League in Guardiola's previous two terms at the club, falling at the quarter-final stage last year and the round of 16 in the season before. There is a pressure on the Spaniard and his team despite their past success in the Premier League along with the EFL Cup. The Champions League is the one competition that City have not managed to lift since Sheikh Mansour assumed control of the club in 2008. They will be determined to take command of the contest this evening to ease their way through to the semi-finals.
Tottenham's bid to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League goes through a familiar foe in the form of City. The two English clubs have been drawn against each other for the first time in European football. Spurs have already been beaten once by Pep Guardiola's men this season, suffering a 1-0 defeat at Wembley. Now in their new ground, Mauricio Pochettino and his team will be looking to land a decisive blow to take a lead back to the Etihad Stadium.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League quarter-final first leg clash between Tottenham and Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
