A very, very happy new year to you all. Now, as you might all be nursing sore heads from last night’s festivities, we thought we’d give you a nice little treat to save you doing the normal doom cycle through the apps, scrolling away as your eyes glaze over. So, we got on the blower to our mates at Getty Images (specifically the wonderful Getty Sport and Getty FC) to ask if they could send us a selection of the best photos their photographers have taken this year.

That’s all very nice, of course, but you can’t help but be distracted by the shirtless fella on the left, who appears to have a black and white upper chest tattoo of children playing football. Superb.
Brad Guzan engaging Luis Suárez in some gentle mockery during the deciding match of Inter Miami and Atlanta United’s MLS Cup playoff series on the 10th of November at Chase Stadium. Brad ended up making eight saves that night as Atlanta completed the greatest upset in MLS history.
