Chan 2020 qualifier: Mauritius vs Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe 3-1 Mauritius: Dube hat-trick seals Warriors progress at Club M’s expense

Prince Dube’s hat-trick booked Zimbabwe a spot in the final round of the African Nations Championship (Chan) after a 3-1 win over Mauritius at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

The Warriors had defeated Les Dodos 4-0 in the first-leg on July 28 and thus progressed 7-1 on aggregate.

Andrew Aristide sent the away side into an unexpected lead in the third minute to give brief hope of a stunning comeback being on the cards.

However, Dube netted the equaliser in the 15th minute.

Neither side got on the score sheet before half-time, as they went into the break level at 1-1, with the Warriors ahead 5-1 on aggregate.

The encounter threatened to peter out, but Dube scored his brace in the 67th minute to complete the home side’s turnaround on the day.

The Highlanders forward wasn’t done yet, though, as he scored his third in the 83rd minute to add further gloss to the scoreline.

It was the frontman’s first hat-trick for the national team, and it sealed a relatively easy tie for Zimbabwe.
