Weah living the dream as he prepares for Wembley date with Rooney and England

Timothy Weah admits it is “a dream come true” to be preparing himself for a meeting with Wayne Rooney and England, although the Paris Saint-Germain youngster intends to grace similar stages for many years to come.

The teenage striker has enjoyed a memorable 18 months which have delivered professional terms with the reigning Ligue 1 champions, a first senior goal and seven caps for the United States.

His rapid rise to prominence has earned him a billing as one of the most exciting youngsters in world football, with there considered to still be plenty of potential for him to unlock.

A glamour friendly clash with England at Wembley should help to further the 18-year-old’s development, with Weah looking forward to testing himself against proven performers he is aiming to emulate.

The son of former World Player of the Year and AC Milan legend George Weah told Sky Sports: “It’s a dream come true, knowing that Wayne Rooney is going is going to be playing his last game and it will be my first time playing in England.

“England is such a an amazing team, the likes of [Raheem] Sterling and [Marcus] Rashford, all these guys and ones I have been watching throughout the years and to be able to play against them, at Wembley, is crazy. It’s a dream come true so I’m really happy and really excited.”

Weah has already made five Ligue 1 appearances, but there is a desire on his part to force his way into PSG’s Champions League plans and line up against more Premier League stars in the future.

He added on a clash with the Three Lions: “It’s going to be a great experience because these are the guys that I’m going to be playing against for years to come, whether it’s in leagues or the Champions League.

“It’s going to be interesting to see what they are really like when you’re not watching them on TV and you’re playing against them.

“It’s going to be a super great experience and I’m going to take everything from it. I’m going to learn from it and try to develop my game and watch the older guys do their thing.”

Weah netted his first competitive goal for PSG during a Trophee des Champions meeting with Monaco back in August.

He had already opened his international account by then, with the first man born in the 21st century to have been capped by the USA finding the target in a friendly date with Bolivia on May 28.
